![]() Kim Halvorson, Owner and Lead Designer, Sweet Peas Inc. Welcome to our web site! Spring has finally sprung here in the Pacific Northwest, as is evident by the bulbs that are coming up in our garden, and the robins and blue jays I have seen gathering little bits of "this and that" to built their nests. I think of fabric as my "this and that" material, and enjoy spending Spring days in my studio! We have several new patterns that will take advantage of your fat quarter stash, and any other little bits you have left over from other projects! For newcomers to the site, I want to personally welcome you to Sweet Peas, Inc., a small pattern publishing company in the Puget Sound region of the Pacific Northwest. Sweet Peas is a cottage industry, and we value your input with everything we do. See the About our Company feature to learn about the women and men who work at our company and their many experiences. Our mission is to bring you the best foundation piecing patterns for quilting projects. Current designs include numerous Holiday Quilts and an evolving American collection called Country Classics. For our complete line of quilting patterns, click Product List! Here are a few highlights from our new line of quilt patterns! Vintage Harvest is a new autumnal pattern packed full of acorns, maple leaves, and pumpkins. Henry's Four Corners is a new foundation pattern designed to make it do, or do without. I make this quilt completely from my stash, and named it for my son Henry who at 8, already loves to travel. I challenge you to try this pattern, using only your stash! You will be richly rewarded. Corn and Beans is an old fashioned favorite, but foundation piecing makes it easy and accurate. Try this pattern with all the wonderful 1930's fabrics on the market, and people will guess that it's an heirloom from your grandmother! I created one for my 4 year old Felix, and after many snuggles and many times through the washing machine, it has truly become an heirloom. Lenten Rose is a lovely quilt that takes advantage of your purple and green fabrics, and was inspired by the Hellebores in my garden as well as the Lenten season. Chicken Dance came from my love of unusual chicken breeds as well as batik fabrics. The two just seem to go together! We are currently working on building a real coop (yes, out of wood, not fabric), so check back soon to see our new endeavor! Two years ago, the quilt industry lost a very very special person to cancer. Bonnie Walker was the co-owner with her daughter Julie of Center Diamond, a beautiful fabric store in Cannon Beach, Oregon. Bonnie loved quilting, the beach and sandcastles, and asked me to design this pattern, and I decided to name it Bonnie's Sandcastle in her memory. Julie Walker and I will both be donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of this pattern to the American Cancer Society. Bonnie, we miss you. Sharon, Nanci, Michael, and I wish you the best Spring possible as you work on your projects! Enjoy Spring! Kim |
